The first I recall were beagles that dad used for hunting; there was Queenie, Jack, Jill and Zippy, and later our oldest brother had one named Scout.
Then I recall two cats; black and white named Midnight and a gold tabby named Goldie. There were many more after that.
I remember our Mom having a parakeet named Petuka, and some cichlid fish with no names.
I remember a duck named JoJo who turned out to be a Josephine. ;o)
And I remember a whitish part collie named Lassie who was a good dog and a great watchdog. Then dad brought her home a young collie supposedly to be her friend, and instead of staying, she seemed to feel she was no longer needed, met up with a dog pack and left. We saw her passing by in the gully below the house one time after that, and when we called her, she looked, but would not come. It was very sad, and I remember crying and crying when she wouldn't come to me! The young collie dad brought home never measured up to Lassie, we just couldn't seem to bond with him, and eventually he found it another home which was probably best.
