When I was between 3-4 years old, we went on a road trip from Erie, PA to NYC to visit relatives. I remember four things clearly about the trip: After about 12 hours on the road, I'd discovered we didn't have my tricycle in the car when we were crossing the George Washington Bridge and told our dad that we should go get it, saying "We can come right back" LOL; I lost grip of my balloon in Central Park and cried and cried, our dad tried to find the vendor to get me another but the guy had left for the day (from then on, balloons were tied around my wrist); and in the tenement building where our relatives lived, there was a little girl about my age, and she let me ride her bike on the roof, our mother almost had a coronary when she discovered me on the roof, because there was no real edge several stories up, only a small lip; and our relatives spoke very broken English mixed with Hungarian, and I thought if I said, "Uncle Louie, flaish cavae (fresh coffee)" like Aunt Irene did, I was speaking Hungarian too.

How about you?

God bless.
