RB'S QUESTION OF THE DAY: December 1, 2012: Was watching a program the other day (yep, same one), and they said..."

Was watching a program the other day (yep, same one), and they said if you're invited to dinner at someone else’s house and they say you don’t need to bring anything, it's wrong to do so because it means the host already has the menu items set in place. Well, I never thought of that myself, but before hearing that, I would probably have brought a little snack, some hors d’oeuvres or something. Now I’m not so sure.
What would you do?
