When I was a young into a pre-teen, I remember our Mom using All which came in big galvanized buckets back then. Early on, I remember both Grandmothers using Fels Naptha to clean EVERYTHING, including the dirty arms and legs of little children - OUCH!!! Later on, I remember our maternal Grandmother using Oxydol for a while. I believe our paternal Grandmother used any powdered detergent that had a dish or glass inside the box, as I did myself when first married. And I remember all three women using Dreft and Ivory Snow for diapers and baby clothes cause it was said to make them softer and gentler on the baby's skin.
