Read an email today that sent up some interesting questions. You're in a restaurant that charges an automatic gratuity on all parties over six. You are a part of a large party, but disagree with being charged the automatic gratuity. What do you do?
Do you go elsewhere when you notice there's an automatic gratuity??
Do you complain to your waiter/waitress???
Do you withhold a tip or a portion of the waiter/waitress' tip to compensate for the gratuity????
Or do you ask to speak to a manager?????

I would generally go elsewhere, or if unable to because of it being a group meeting, etc., I would ask to speak to a manager to see if it could be changed. The only reason I'd ever stiff a waiter/waitress on a tip is if the service was lousy, and then I'd generally ask to speak to a manager about that too.
How about you?
God bless.
