Lived through many blizzards as a child being snowbound for days into weeks when the National Guard dropped pallets of food into our back pasture because roads were impassable, the coal for heating had run out and we were all huddled in blankets around the oven using the last of the propane for warmth. But the one I remember most was Hurricane Fran, September 5, 1996, in Raleigh, NC that brought 100mph winds among the skyscrapers in downtown Raleigh which even the best storm predictor had never imagined would happen. The Weather Bureau at the airport stopped counting tornadoes at 200 because they became too numerous to count. And even the highest of houses was close to being underwater from the deluge of rain. It took over 10 days to have power restored to much of the city, and it took months upon months for the Corps of Engineers to dispose of the thousands upon thousands of trees that were downed.
What I learned was that if I hunkered down, held on and trusted in God, light would follow the storm. And it did. Praise God!!!
How about you?
With love.
God bless.
