I remember a time when the first thing most families did was go to the cemetery and refresh/replace the flowers on all the family's graves. I don't know if anyone does that anymore.
Now we live out of state from our family's cemetery, and because we're both under the weather, I would be all we're going to do this Memorial Day is rest, but because I served, the troops are always on my mind. And because our beloved nephew is currently serving in Afganistan, they're even more on my mind now.
Praying for them all, and for those they love at home - struggling to keep the homefires burning in their absence, all the while praying they never hear that dreaded knock on the door bearing the worst news possible for them.
